Our People

The leadership team comprises our six directors: Neil Burke, Sharon Burke, Andy Wells, Luke Sanders, Chris Burke and Michael Burke. Our directors have oversight of the overall business and driving the company strategy, but also maintain a client- and project-focused approach. Maintaining excellent client relationships is key to our continued success and our directors keep in close contact throughout every project to ensure we are performing as expected. 

Our project managers are assigned once contracts are awarded. They start by developing the client brief into a firmed scope, then begin the detailed planning, organisation and coordination process that enables each department to undertake its part in the project. Our project managers also play a vital role in injecting enthusiasm and passion, qualities that make the process enjoyable for all.

The design team takes the concept design and provides input on layout, functionality, materiality and finishes to develop a full set of working production drawings. We take pride in the quality of our drawings – they contain all necessary details to enable approval for manufacture. Our designers work closely with the architects, interior designers, project team and internal departments to deliver an integrated vision for every piece of joinery we create.

Our workshop team includes machinists, CNC technicians, bench joiners and cabinet makers, veneering specialists, apprentices and the logistics and delivery team. Our success is underpinned by a dedication to craftsmanship and exceptional woodworking, with many time-served experts and a collective understanding of the NBJ philosophy.

After the planning, designing and making is complete, every piece of joinery must be finished. Our highly-skilled finishers are professionals who understand how to apply the correct techniques and share an in-depth appreciation of the variety of materials and wood species we work with. Our finishing team are also heavily involved in the early sampling process, working with project managers and designers to put forward and deliver finishes for approval. 

Our top-class fitters work closely with the project manager, designers and production department to install our joinery and furniture. They understand the need for care and attention to detail, minimise disruptions by operating neatly, cleanly and efficiently, and prioritise health and safety at all times. We maintain a high level of training: all fitters have CSCS cards and supervisors have SMSTS or SSSTS; several team members have first aid training; and we hold other training tickets such as PASMA and fire-door installation.
