Private House
Hampstead
Prime Residential Project
The original house was built in 1960 to the designs of Trevor Dannatt, one of the most important figures in British Modernism. The remodelling and redesign was carried out by Coppin Dockray Architects, securing awards for the AJ Retrofit 2023 category, and winner of RIBA London Award 2024. The house makes extensive use of lively natural light, filtering through the surrounding tree canopies. Coppin Dockray were careful to limit the material choices, with a hyperfocus on quality workmanship and remaining sympathetic to the iconic modernist building, with the joinery throughout finished in sweet-chestnut. We provided the joinery for the master suite, study and primary living spaces.
